Description
This 1940 Packard One-Eighty Super Eight is a 138-inch-wheelbase five-passenger touring sedan that is powered by a rebuilt 356ci straight-eight paired with a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
This example is one of approximately 700 five-passenger touring sedans produced for the model year, and it was repainted in the factory Packard Maroon. Exterior features include split front and rear windshields, dual covered side-mount spares, rear-hinged rear doors, a fold-down rear luggage rack, and chrome trim.
Body-color 16″ steel wheels with chrome Packard hubcaps and trim rings are fitted with Firestone Deluxe Champion wide-whitewall tires.
The front bench features black seating surfaces and is equipped with lap belts, while the rest of the cabin has beige cloth upholstery with matching beige door panels and headliner. Black Packard mats sit in the front footwell, and the dashboard and doors are trimmed with woodgrain.
The rear bench seat features a carpeted footwell with movable passenger footrests. A fold-down center armrest is offset by exterior armrests with built-in cigar lighters and ashtrays, and assist straps are mounted above the windows on both sides.
The banjo-style steering wheel fronts a column shifter and a woodgrain dashboard with a driver-centered 120-mph speedometer and a passenger-centered clock. The five-digit odometer displays just under 81k miles.
